I bought a desktop computer for Omarchy
One of the things that worked against me in previous attempts at moving to Linux is that I only have an old ThinkPad to test it on. Linux runs OK on it, but the screen is pretty low-res and the trackpad absolutely sucks. This causes me to become frustrated with Linux for reasons that aren’t Linux’s fault.
I thought about replacing the ThinkPad with a nice new Framework laptop, but that would mean a $1,500 investment on what is, let’s admit it, an experiment.
So instead, I bought an actual desktop computer. I went with a Beelink Ser8.The model I got has 32GB of memory and a 1TB SSD. Decent specs for $499.
Presumably, this will work with the Apple Studio Display, using some weird cable, which I also ordered. Fingers crossed on that because without the Studio Display this is a non-starter.
