Linux Log: Wednesday, April 23, 2025
I’m getting closer to a point where I want to stop adding things. The scope of what I want to use Linux for is narrowing.
Recent additions have been:
Installed Espanso . I had to build this from source. That wasn’t the most fun I’ve had, but it’s working.
Installed 1Password. Of course I recently moved from 1Password to Apple’s Password app on my Macs, so I have some catching up to do. I considered Bitwarden, but I used 1Password for years without issue, so I’m sticking with that. I didn’t realize there was a Linux client, so that’s nice.
Installed Fish Shell. Fish is great and I don’t want to live without its built-in completions. I still haven’t been brave enough to set it as my default shell, but I’m close.
Other than that, I’m kind of just using it. I have fewer and fewer “dammit!” moments each day, which is good. Honestly, I’m thinking this will make a great writing/blogging/browsing machine. Photography is going to have to remain on the Mac, I’m afraid. I don’t see a way past that, yet.
So, currently I’m looking at using Linux on a laptop for reading/writing and macOS on desktop for photography.
